Last revised July 2026. This draft has not yet completed legal review; its terms may change before the App Store and Google Play release.
Scavenger & Hunt Co. is a scavenger-hunt game. Our design principle is simple: we collect as little as the game can run on, we sell nothing about you, and everything is temporary by default.
There is no account and no sign-up. When you join, the app mints a random badge number on your device. Your chosen detective name and badge number are yours alone — no ledgers sold, no watching eyes. We do not collect your email address, phone number, real name, precise location, or advertising identifiers, and we do not use third-party analytics or advertising software.
To make a hunt work across devices, the following is synced to our server: the cases you build (their clues, boards, and cover art), the photographs hunters submit as proof of their finds, verification results, and a small profile snapshot under your badge number (your detective name, your purchases, and your trophy coins). Everything else lives only on your device.
Photographs submitted during a hunt exist for one purpose: so the case's builder can verify the find. They are stored under the case they belong to and are removed with it. Please photograph the find, not the finder — and never submit a photograph of another person without their consent.
You may strike a case from the record at any time. This deletes the board, every hunter's submission, and the photographs in it. Whether or not you do, a case is removed within 60 days.
One exception: an accepted territory case — one its builder has chosen to send for publication — is kept as part of the archive rather than swept. Nothing is published unless the builder sends it.
If your photograph or your case appears in the published archive and you want it removed, write to info@scavengerandhunt.com and we will remove it. There is no self-service path for published material; the mailbox is it.
Purchases (the Inspector's Charter and archive packs) are handled by the App Store or Google Play; we never see your payment details. What we record is only that your badge number owns what it bought, so your purchases restore on any device.
The game is built for families to play together, but building cases and making purchases are for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children; a hunter's participation is a name they choose and the photographs they submit, held under the retention rule above.
If this policy changes materially, the revised version will be posted at this address with a new revision date.
